I can highly recommend Patrick and 2Xplore tours. Firstly he is very friendly and puts you at ease the minute you meet him. He presents a fantastic picture and takes you on a tour of the battles fields and a wide variety of sites. His use of photos to show the past while your looking at the present paints a fantastic picture of what life was like during the war and his excellent knowledge means he can answer all questions you may have.
He was extremely helpful with information while we were planning our trip. Do not waste your time looking any further. Patrick & 2Xplore are the tour for you.

I can highly recommend 2Xplore and our tour guide Patrick’s expertise in exploring the WW1 battlefields and memorials in Belgium. This summer our group of 20 people spent a memorable day in Ypres while visiting some of the most important WW1 sites of Flanders Fields, including Essex Farm Cemetery, Yorkshire Trench, Duitse Militaire Begraafplaats, The Brooding Soldier, and Tyne Cot Cemetery. Patrick planned us a very interesting tour and took well into account our hopes for the trip. We were impressed by his knowledge of the history of the area and enthusiasm, and can warmly recommend him to others. Thank you Patrick!

Patrick was our guide for a customised tour of Flanders Fields. Everything, from initial emails to the day itself, was excellent. All communication was clear and concise and I was fully confident that Patrick would be there on the day, as indeed he was very promptly! He took us to all the sites we had agreed (Tyne Cot, St Julien, Essex Farm hospital, Harry Patch memorial, theh German cemetery and, of course, the Menin Gate for the last post). Patrick was careful to ensure that my 86-year old mum was comfortable at all times. One of Patrick's many strengths was his ability to describe the battles and the movements of the line and his insights into how the war was conducted in Paasschendaele; this was particularly helpful to us as it enables us to imagine what it must have been like for our uncle who died near Tyne Cot. Indeed, Patrick sent us additional information from Battalion's war diaries after the trip. Patrick answered our many questions and queries. This is a 5* experience that we would recommend to anyone, and particularly those with a personal connection to the graves. Thank you Patrick!

As a history teacher I'm very critical of tour guides and their understanding of history. I have been on many tours where the guides were not well informed or presented factually inaccurate information.
However, Patrick, our tour guide, is one of the best, if not the best, tour guide I have had in a very long time. He knows the history of World War I especially the battles in area of Flanders. He explains things exceptionally well and includes additional historical sources to bring the past to life. And as an added bonus, his background in the Belgium military allows him to connect the past to the present. I got incredible value on this tour for my money. Skip the large bus tours and use this company!

Amazing experience! My family and I wanted to learn more about World War 1 in Ypres. We found 2Xplore online and decided to book a guided tour with them. Our tour guide Patrick was amazing! Not only did he take us to the most important WWI sites surrounding Ypres, but also clearly explained the significance of each site and provided visual aids that enhanced the experience! Even after the tour, Patrick provided us with more information and names of movies and documentaries to watch. Ypres and the Flemish fields are so beautiful! It is a must-see when visiting Belgium.

Our tour with Patrick was excellent. He was very flexible with his timing to meet our travel plans, was very knowledgeable and helped us make sense of the events and the landscape, obviously much changed from the obliterated landscape that was left after the war ended. Highly recommended.

Fantastische toer verkregen van Patrick rond de veldslagen in Ieper,we werden met een busje op alle interessante plaatsen gebracht waar we voorzien werden van alle info en met de nodige foto's en uitleg...
Patrick is een aangename man zit vol passie over WW1 en kan al je vragen beantwoorden en helpt je bij verdere opzoekingen ivb familie leden...
Zeker een aanrader om op verkenning tegaan in Ieper en je je verdiepen in WW1

We are so glad we looked past the first page in our google search for a tour around the WWI battlefields! Avoid the big companies and go with 2Xplore. We enjoyed a fabulous afternoon with a small group of our family of three and 2 others. Patrick was very organised and provided clear instructions on how to get to the meeting point in Ypres. His knowledge and explanation of the various locations was spot on. Excellent day despite some rainy weather but Patrick even provided lovely umbrellas! Thank you.
